Our Quick Take
Coney Island Beach is a boardwalk, amusement park and a “slightly crazy” vibe all rolled into one.
Expect to spend some time and money as kids will want to take a ride, have a hotdog (or a lobster roll) and maybe even visit the near-by New York Aquarium. It can get overcrowded in Coney Island, but part of the fun is the rowdiness of the place. Remember you are in Brooklyn, not on a private island and have some fun!
Things to Do With Kids
- Beach & Pier– Coney Island Beach is wide, so plenty of room for your towel and you can always take a stroll on the pier. There are also a few play structures right on the beach
- Boardwalk & Amusement Parks– Deno’s Wonderwheel and Luna Park both have kiddie rides, as well as thrills for grown-ups. They’ve been open for decades and the little one’s will be thrilled to pieces
Near-BY
- NY Aquarium– Probably one of the best aquariums around in the area and newly renovated too. Shark and ray displays are great, as are the one’s for all the other sea creatures. Do not miss the sea lion show!
- Brighton Beach area has some of the best Russian food available this side of the iron curtain.
