  • Six Flags Great Escape & Hurricane Harbor– Smaller rides than the one in NJ, but still lots to do for the whole family… north of Albany (closer to Lake George) in a wooded setting, it also has a lodge with a small indoor water park (with day tickets if needed) available…
  • Headless Horseman Haunted Attractions– This “New York Nightmare” is more of an Halloween attraction with creepy stuff, but worth the visit for the nightmare-proof ones… or go during children’s days, when scare-level is toned down…
  • LegoLand New York Resort– All things Lego with small rides and resort+ticket packages available…
  • Huck Finn’s Playland– Old-school amusement park with kiddie (and we mean kiddie) rides in Albany…
  • Enchanted Forest Water Safari– 50+ rides in and out of water in this “deep in the Adirondacks” original park… clean and friendly staff to boot… stay+play packages available…
  • Magic Forest (Lake George Expedition Park)– Designed for little ones, nothing too fancy, but reasonably priced…
  • Pure Terror Scream Park– Guinness World Record Holder for the longest horror attraction in the world, so maybe more for teens and those with platinum nerves… open seasonally (read fall)

PENNSYLVANIA

  • Sesame Place– A park with rides and slides suitable for the younger set… don’t miss the parade with the beloved characters…
  • Dorney Park & Wildwater Kingdom– Anything from serious thrill rides to water slides and Snoopy to boot, but get a fast pass for rides…
  • Hersheypark– Another massive PA park with rides for all thrill levels (both wet and dry) and all the other expected fun… zoo is great too…
  • Dutch Wonderland– A great alternative to Hersheypark with smaller rides and more manageable layout if you have younger kids in tow… water park ticket included in price…
  • Idlewild and SoakZone– Old-time charming park with wet and dry rides, plus a story-book forest…
  • Knoebels Amusement Resort– Pay as you go (or wristband) amusement park with roller coasters, pools and great mountain views… free parking and decently priced food to boot…
  • Costa’s Family Fun Park– More of a family fun park with seasonal outdoor activities including water slides, go-karts etc… can get expensive fast though…
  • Lakemont Park– In Altoona, so far, but offers world’s oldest wooden roller coaster… lots of other wet and dry fun too, including a Christmas light display…
