Lake Tiorati Beach- Harriman State Park- Upstate NY

YouTube Poster
“Video of visiting Lake Tiorati Beach with kids…”

Lake Tiorati Beach is one of the only two lake beaches in Harriman State Park you are officially allowed to swim in- but it’s definitely the cuter of the two. The other being Lake Welch beach, which is bigger, but also rowdier.

Lake Tiorati Beach is small one, with only two lifeguard stands, there is no food stand and it can fill up fast on nice weekends. It’s also on Seven Lakes drive, so you will hear some Harleys riding by, but they do add to that upstate free-living charm.

On the other hand, there are trailheads near-by, lots of tables and grills under the trees, easy-going staff and the entrance fee is only $6.

The water is clear and calm and especially suitable for little ones, with a few pebbles in the sand. In other words, our kids definitely had a good time. Plus, unlike other lake beaches, they have a lap swim area marked off in case you need some exercise.

Get there early and you will enjoy yourself!

Things to Do With Kids

Beach

Hiking & Biking

Access to hiking trails of Harriman State Park available (including part of Appalachian Trail), so take a walk before a dip. You could ride a bike on Seven Lakes Drive as well, but it’s a shared road with cars, so not suitable for young kids.

Camping

Tiorati Plateau Campground near-by.
